Introduction to Analog Recording

Overview:

• Brief history of analog recording and cassette tape technology
• Advantages and limitations of cassette tape multitrack recording
• Equipment and signal flow: understanding the cassette tape recorder, mixing console, and outboard gear
• Recording techniques: setting levels, signal processing, track bouncing, and overdubbing
• Listening session: playback of a multitrack recording created during the workshop

Some details:

• Participants do not need any prior knowledge of recording or music production
• A small group of up to 10 participants
• I provide two cassette tape multitrack recorder, mixing console, and other gear - microphones, cables, and headphones
