Many pop musicians these days are moving in the mu sic world with much more fluidity and acceptance of themselves as well as coming out and growing up in communities that are supporting of them and their honest real messages. Although for many artists, the path to making it, is determined by their race and or gender which are two additional factors to fight against on top of being an artist. We can all agree there is much work still to be done especially for intersectional gender equity. For a beginning, on our part would like to talk to 3 artists performing at the Torstraßen Festival this year who themselves can talk to us about their own journeys, give a shout out to their ancestors and artists who have helped breakdown these barriers and give us a takeaway that we can all reflect upon whether fan or a part of the music business.
