Laura Lee
Laura Lee is a Berlin-based songwriter, multi-instrumentalist and performer. She first gained international attention with her band GURR, winning numerous awards including the Impala Award for Best European Indie Album of the Year and the VUT Award for Best Album as well as starring in the German TV movie “Nicht tot zu kriegen”. She has opened for bands such as Arcade Fire, The Strokes and Beatsteaks. In 2020, Laura Lee launched her solo career under the name Laura Lee & the Jettes. After the release of her debut album, she performed in New York City at the New Colossus Festival and at SXSW in Austin Texas. Since April 2023, Laura Lee has worked for the state theater in Leipzig, starring in the play „The Master and Margarita“ where she acts, sings and makes music. Laura Lee is a recipient of the Keychange stipend, an initiative to help increase visibility for women and underrepresented groups in the music industry where she also mentors aspiring musicians. Since August 2022, Laura Lee is a mother to a daughter and shows her path back into the music industry in the documentary „6 hours with Laura Lee“, produced by Noisey.
